How to connect a foreign supplier to an e-shop using Mergado Translate

Have you established cooperation with a foreign supplier? Do you have their product data available, but do you need to translate it into Czech? Thanks to MERGADO Translate you can translate product labels, product names, their parameters and all important text values that you need to import into your e-shop. Let’s show you how to do it.

Checking and preparing product data

The documents from the supplier are often invalid for direct import of products into your e-shop. You do not want some products in the offer, some product information is redundant and does not need to be translated. The Mergado application will help you check and prepare the import.

What to check and edit in Mergado:

  • Prepare a new export with the import file format for your e-shop. You can use ready-made formats in the Mergado converter or click your own, using “Custom format”.
  • Select only the products you want to offer on the e-shop, hide the others using the “Hide product” rule.
  • Fill in and edit the data so that the connection passes the validation of your shop system. Usually these are mandatory elements and their format, for example:
  • ID
  • Variant ID
  • Product name
  • Price
  • Convert selling and purchasing prices into your local currency.
  • Change your foreign currency to your local currency, CZK code.
  • Decide which elements you will translate. Information such as the manufacturer, supplier category or their notes are unnecessary. Do not translate links, images or codes such as EAN, etc.
  • On the element overview page in Mergado, hide those elements with information that you do not need in your e-shop and will not translate.
  • You can keep the formatting of the labels, Mergado Translate will handle it. If you want to style the labels according to your own preferences in the e-shop, you can remove the formatting using the “Strip HTML tags” rule.

Mergado can only process CSV and XML feeds stored at a URL address. However, if the supplier sends you an email with an attachment containing a CSV or XML file, that’s fine. In the Mergado Store you can find the eMfiles application. It is used for storing and sharing files. It will prepare a permanent URL for the uploaded file, which you can link to Mergado.

If the supplier sends you a different file, such as XLS, TXT, etc., convert it to XML or CSV using the Blending Bull application in the Mergado Store. It is a low-level XML editor that can handle any format. It can combine multiple sources together and prepare a permanent URL with a single file for you to connect to Mergado, where you can conveniently complete the optimization.

Automatic product translation

After checking supplier data, preparing supplier export, optimizing content and successfully validating the file in your shop system, it’s time for the translations themselves.
