The new project acts as a guide that will walk you through creating your first project. Below, we will describe the individual steps and other important information. The guide is intended for users who are new to Mergado.
In this post, we will describe the individual steps of the new project:
1. Feed URL
In short:
- What should I enter in the field from which Mergado will download the input feed?
The feed address. This is the web address that links to the location of a specific product feed. Example: https://eshop.com/feed.xml. This is not the address of your e-shop, but the URL address where the data about the items from the e-shop is located. - Which feed formats do we support?
XML, JSON, CSV, and Google Sheets. These are the types of feeds that you can upload to Mergado.
What should I enter in the field from which Mergado will download the input feed?
The address of your feed. This is a web address that links to the location of a specific product file. It contains information about products, such as names, descriptions, prices, images, etc. You will then edit this information in Mergado.
Please note: This is not the address of your e-shop!
Example: https://eshop.com/feed.xml
You can find the feed address in your e-shop platform or from your e-shop administrator.
TIP: Do you run your shop on the Shoptet platform? Don’t forget to set up the export of data from your e-shop correctly; otherwise, Mergado will not be able to access your data. How to set up export security in Shoptet?
Which formats do we support?
There are several types of product feeds. Each has a different method of data transfer. They differ only in the form of their notation. Below, we will describe those that you can work with in Mergado. In the example, we will focus on the differences in the product: Apple iPhone, 128 GB, black colour, weighing 171 g.

Other information
Mergado will download the input feed from the IP address 81.31.39.112. If you use an IP address whitelist to secure your feeds, you must add this IP address to it.
We only create projects on Mergado 2.
2. E-shop
The e-shop brings together your individual projects. You can have as many projects as you need under one e-shop. Each project represents a specific advertisement for your e-shop on Heureka, Google, or Facebook.
The name of the e-shop is entirely up to you. Example: My-eshop.com.
3. Input format
In short:
- Which input format should you choose?
Mergado preselects the format based on an analysis of your feed. If it makes a mistake in this step, you can search for the format in the name entry menu. Example: Google, Alza, GLAMI, and others… - Why define your own format?
Mergado knows the vast majority of advertising formats. However, you will not need this feature in the first few days of using it.
Which input format should you choose?
In the first step, Mergado performs an analysis of your feed. You will then use it in the third step. Here, it will preselect the format that is closest to the product feed format from the address where Mergado downloads it.
If Mergado does not select the correct format, search for the one you need in the format name field.
TIP: The easiest way to find the correct format is to enter the name of the comparison site or marketplace you use in the window. For example, Google, GLAMI, Alza. Mergado will then offer you the most suitable formats.
Why do I need to define my own format?
Custom format is an advanced feature that, simply put, teaches Mergado to recognize and process (almost) any XML or CSV file.
Answers to what a custom format is and how to use it at input will soon be available in an article we are preparing for you.
What is the input feed preview for?
For checking. If you are uploading more complex feeds, this allows you to easily check the data and its upload to Mergado.
4. Output format
In short:
- Which output format should you choose?
Mergado preselects the format based on an analysis of your feed. In order to automatically improve product data for the advertising channel you use, we recommend choosing the same format as the input. Do you want to expand the number of sales channels you use? Choose the specific format that represents the target of your data. For example, comparison sites - Zboží, Heureka, web advertising - Google, Sklik, or marketplaces - Kaufland, Alza. - Why define your own format?
Mergado knows the vast majority of advertising formats. However, you won’t need this feature in the first few days of using it.
Which output format should you choose?
The output format represents the target of your product feed. For example, the Heureka comparison site or Kaufland Marketplace. To make it easy for you to use Mergado to improve your advertising, we automatically offer you the same format in the fourth step as in the third. If you are expanding your sales channels, you can choose a different format.
TIP: The easiest way to find the right format is to enter the name of the comparison engine or marketplace you use in the window. For example, Google, GLAMI, Alza. Mergado will then offer you the most suitable formats.

5. Completion
The recap gives you one last chance to edit all previous steps before importing your feed into Mergado.
What are matching elements?
Matching elements help distinguish individual products from the input feed. Mergado always suggests the most suitable elements. Changing them is an advanced feature. You probably won’t need to edit them in your first project.
Summary
- You can create a new project in five short and simple steps.
- To create it, you need a URL that links to the location of a specific product feed.
