How to create, rename, or delete an element

How to create a new element?

  1. Click on the page with elements and then on the “new element” button.
  2. Name the new element at the bottom.
  3. Select whether you want an element or an attribute and save.

You can also add a nested element by clicking the + button next to the specific element to which you want to add the new nested element.

You can create a nested attribute in the same way.

Elements are empty after being added; you fill them with values using overwrite rules.

An element can also be disabled so that it is not generated in the output feed if it is only to be used internally in Mergado.

A manually created element can also be deleted, but an element created by Mergado cannot be deleted; such an element can only be hidden.

How to rename an element?

Only manually created elements can be renamed. You can rename it using the arrow next to the name and then confirming.

The element will also be renamed in the rules and queries in which it was used.

Elements created by Mergado, whether imported from the input feed or using a converter rule, cannot be renamed.

:bulb: However, you can work around this limitation by creating a new element with the correct name and hiding the original element. Use a rule to copy the values from the original element to the new element. We show you how to do this in this video.
